Return of Korean Cultural heritage
The Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, an affiliate of the Korea Heritage Service, was established in July 2012 in accordance with Article 69 (3) of the Cultural Heritage Protection Act. It is tasked with the systematic survey, research, and retrieval of Korean cultural heritage that have been taken abroad.
The foundation specializes in the systematic survey and research of Korean cultural heritage located overseas. The foundation also supports projects related to the utilization, conservation, and restoration of Korean cultural heritage. Moreover, the foundation is taking a leading role in the return of Korean cultural heritage that were removed from Korea illegally or that hold particular historical and cultural significance.
The foundation endeavors to promote the significance of Korean cultural heritage and provide opportunities for its appreciation.
